SLEEPSHIRTS BY DFDESIGNS AND A QUICK HISTORY OF THE NIGHTSHIRT
According to The Fairchild Dictionary of Fashion, a nightshirt or nightshift is a "sleeping garment worn by both men and women and made in both his and hers styles. Resembling a man's shirt, it can be knee or calf length. Formerly worn by men and boys before the introduction of pyjamas in the 1880’s".
Nightshirts or "SleepShirts" first seem to have been mentioned in the late Middle Ages. Before then people slept naked or in their day clothes. Nightshirts are probably the successors of the long undergarments people wore under their clothes; they simply removed their outer attire when they went to bed and slept in the undergarment. This item or a chemise was often the only item of clothing to be washed regularly!
No matter what they used to be or how often they were washed, they are now more comfortable and fashionable (and easier to care for!) than ever. But most of all they're fun! So as the cooler weather approaches, check out the DreamCatcher SleepShirts from Pookies for lounging and sleeping. Available in three great styles, they are ideal for either men or women. So make some fashion history today with a SleepShirt from DFDesigns.
